Save Yazidis from Extinction

At this time there is an urgent need to make a difference for the ancient culture of the Yazidis. The terrorist group known as ISIS has targeted the Yazidi community in an attempt to purge all non-Islamic influences. Two hundred years ago there were 23 million Yazidis, today only a little more than 1 million remain with dwindling numbers. The Yazidis have suffered horrendous pain and suffering, and they need your help.

IAHV’s Strategy is Fourfold in Aiding the Region:

  1. Protecting women from terror and rape
  2. Providing essentials of supplies and food
  3. Bringing trauma relief to all who have lost hope
  4. Building institutions to create and ensure long term peace

Only limited funds and resources are keeping more from being done.

Thus far, with your impactful donations, IAHV has been able to do the following in Iraq in the last 4 months:

  • Rescued 200 women from ISIS and relocated them to relief camps
  • Coordinated the distribution of 130 tons of life giving food, water, winter supplies and tents with Iraqi army and coalition forces.
  • Taught our trauma relief programs to youth, professionals and first responders focused on relief camps
  • Held a Peace Conference on “Protecting Women and Bringing Peace & Stability” with Sri Sri as keynote speaker

“It’s very easy to make war. It’s difficult to make peace. We have to start somewhere.”

– Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Video of Sri Sri’s visit to Iraq)

After Sri Sri’s visit, the Kurdish Government, donated 5 acres of premier land to IAHV to build a Peace Center to focus on conflict resolution, communication, youth empowerment, and trauma relief.

Kumudvathi River Rejuvenation Project

Kumudvathi river used to be an important source of water for all the 278 villages in its basin for agriculture and drinking purposes. But today, there is no trace of the river except during monsoon season where few streams spring up near the elevated areas.

Kumudvathi River Rejuvenation Project is an endeavor to restore the ecosystem scientifically. Since Feb 2013, thousands of volunteers have been engaged in rejuvenation activities coordinated by IAHV. The Minor Irrigation and Water Resources Department is fully cooperating with us and firms like Bosch and Philips have funded some of the infrastructure. Video  More info
