On 27th July, 2005 IAHV volunteers joined local residents in distributing bananas,
tea, biscuits, water etc at many points in the city to people who were stranded
in vehicles on the road.
Distributed 12,000 food packets per day, in addition to clothes,
utensils, food grains etc(approx. 15,000 packets) and arranged medical camps covering
over 5000 people in Kalva,Kalina,Dharavi and Dombivli areas of Mumbai.
Set a community kitchen at Kalva that provided food to 1200 families
everyday till 11th August.
In Mahad (Konkan region) community kitchen to feed approx. 7000
people every day for 6 days. Clothes, utensils, stoves, blankets etc were also distributed
to over 1000 families. Trauma relief camps have commenced.
Many local food distribution points were set up in Mumbai that
provided food to victims for several days.
Several Medical camps were organized
In Sangli and Kolhapur our volunteers covered 50 villages and
arranged r distribution of clothes, utensils and other items.
Government of Maharashtra appointed IAHV as the nodal agency for
distribution of aid in Kalina, Kalva and Dharavi.
Shri S .N. Tripathi,(IAS) Chairman of Finance Commission, who
heads the relief committee, complimented IAHV volunteers for their tremendous work.
