Art of Living volunteers join hands with local aid troops – additional help still needed

**Volunteers needed! Come and help the flood victims in Germany**

Tuesday, 11 Jun 2013 – Germany is currently experiencing one of the biggest floods in over a decade that has forced tens of thousands to flee their homes.
Many cities are flooded, streets are full of mud, cellars of private houses are filled with water and mud to the roof and the people do not know how to clean their homes, how to continue with their lives. Many have lost everything and feel alone and desperate. They need help.

Already in 2002 after the big Elbe flood in the Dresden area, The Art of Living in cooperation with the International Association for Human Values supported the natural disaster relief work with big groups of volunteers who helped in the affected areas.
This time, once again, the Art of Living has teamed up with IAHV and volunteers from both organizations have travelled to the affected areas to help those in need.

At this stage, our volunteers primarily help in

  • Removing all the mud from the houses and streets that the water brought along
  • General clean up of the flooded and devastated area
  • Organizing and distributing clothes and household items in the emergency collection places
  • Offering free of charge trauma relief workshops
  • Help, wherever help is needed

Are you available to help?

There is really the need for helping hands – do you think you can help? When is it possible for you to join our helping teams of Art of Living and IAHV?
We take care of all the necessary administrative steps allowing us to enter the city (it is allowed only for helpers, not for tourists) and to get a place to sleep, shower, to get food etc.

If you are available to join, we look much forward to hearing from you. Please contact our volunteer coordination team on luedemann@iahv.org or call +49 (0)7804 – 973 911, +49 (0)171 3111598 or alternatively complete this list.
